Boldo is one of the medicinal plants most commonly used in the preparation of medications to treat liver and gallbladder diseases.  Alternative medicine attributes Boldo with the following properties:

• It is a choleretic, stimulating the production of bile.
• It is a cholagogue, meaning it helps to empty the gallbladder.
• It helps prevent the formation of gallstones.
• It facilitates digestion and is a mild laxative.

Milk Thistle contains sylimarin, a powerful drug which can help regenerate damaged liver cells and restore their normal operation.  It is also recommended to aid in the treatment of the following conditions:

• Degeneration of liver due to fat.
• Liver inflammation.
• Intoxication caused by hepatotoxic substances.
• Hepatitis.
• Liver insufficiency and congestion.
